Tanunda Residence
Barossa heritage meets contemporary design:
Tanunda is getting a new arrival. Construction is set to commence later this year on this custom residence in Tanunda!
This project is a close collaboration with the talented team at Kapunda-based @bishop_building, and I can't wait to watch it break ground. Designed as a premium downsiser for a long-time Barossa Valley resident, the brief called for a beautiful architectural transition: a classic, historic cottage facade to the street that seamlessly opens up into a contemporary two-storey home anchoring into the steep hillside behind.
The Highlights:
The Barossa Vernacular: The street front honours local heritage, blending raw random stone walling, traditional rendered bands, and crisp gables with galvanised roofing and classic verandah details.
The Garden Entry: Nestled under mature, majestic eucalypts, the property is framed by a striking front fence of stone piers, structured hedging, and classic Iceberg roses.
The Contemporary Twist: Moving through the home, the architecture shifts into a modern, light-filled volume engineered to climb the rising landscape.
Future-Proofed Living: Designed with longevity in mind, the layout integrates modern luxuries—including an internal lift—ensuring absolute accessibility and seamless aging in place. A beautiful balance of regional character and modern residential engineering.
Stay tuned as this Barossa project comes to life with Bishop Building!
