Stirling Residential Alteration & Pool Pavilion

Expanding a home while connecting the landscape: The Aldgate Masterplan.

Following on from the garage studio feature, this unbuilt concept reveals the extensive additions and alterations designed for the main residence on that exact same Adelaide Hills site.

The challenge? Transform a modest, rigid 3-bedroom rectangular layout into a spacious family sanctuary that embraces its sprawling outback backdrop.

The Highlights:

The Family Wing: We reconfigured the existing footprint to create larger bedrooms, an extra bathroom, and a luxury Master Suite complete with an expansive walk-in robe and ensuite.

Elevated Entertaining: The internal living zones extend onto a new, cantilevered timber deck. This elevated platform frames views across sweeping lawns to the distant Stringybark canopy.

The Pool Destination: Because the existing swimming pool sat far from the house, I designed a dedicated poolside pavilion. Equipped with a built-in BBQ, integrated joinery seating, and a decked surround, it transforms the pool into a true architectural anchor.

Site-Wide Material Cohesion: To tie the main home, the pool pavilion, and the rear studio conversion into one seamless estate, I deployed a unified material palette across the entire property: Bagged and white-painted brickwork to modernise the facades. Deep charcoal accents for sharp, contemporary geometry. Warm ironbark timber soffit linings that run continuously through every structure.

An exercise in breaking the constraints of standard residential footprints, this concept shows how smart zoning can tie disconnected spaces into a cohesive family haven.
